Life is sweet and rich, when you have freedom to meet your world with versatility, ease, and of course, style! These classes open your options - in ways that may totally surprise you. Who knew!!
Comfort. Strength. AND Movement Freedom. Yes - you can have all three - all at the same time!
Based in deep biomechanical principles and the intelligence of your own nervous system, you will explore how to work WITH your smart body (instead of against it, eh...).
Explore gentle, novel movements, designed to help you notice what you do, and experience new options – often leading to surprising insights and end points. The classes are fun, intriguing, and not at all like exercise classes.
As a key feature, you get to listen to the intelligence of your own body - and your own experience. What feels good, feels safe - and works - for YOU?? Your body will LOVE you for this :-)
When: Wednesday mornings, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Sept. 18 to Dec. 11, 2024. (Please note: there will be no class on October 9.)
Where: L'Heureux Room
Cost: By donation - your choice how much :) (Suggestion: between $10 and $20 per class).
What to bring: Your curiosity! Wear clothes you can move freely in. Please bring a mat, and a towel you can scrunch up for support if needed.
When: Thursday afternoons, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., October 3 to November 28, 2024 (Please note: there will be no class on October 31.)
Where: Fanny Bay Community Hall Studio (go up the stairs on the left after you come in the front door)

Feldenkrais sessions and classes are all about learning. And learning only happens well, when you feel safe. We will tap into what Dr. Stephen Porges (the PolyVagal Theory guy) calls "The Transformative Power of Feeling Safe".
Your bones are built to support weight, and transfer force. What muscles do best is: line up the bones. :-) When muscles try to do what bones can do better, muscles get tired, sore - and cranky! So - let's check - could your bones do more, and does that make your muscles happier?
If a place within you feels like it is doing too much - it probably is! We will explore how to spread out the work, over long pathways through your body, so that each place can do its fair share, and no one place does "too much". Ahhhh yes - THAT feels better!
As you explore, you will be invited to notice: is this different from what you did before? Does it feel safe? Do you like it? Does it work well, for YOU? Bringing awareness to what you notice helps to "make it real", and helps new experiences to land and settle in much better and faster.
Humans learn, and change. This learning and changing can happen at any age! In the Feldenkrais classes and session, we focus on MOVEMENT as the doorway to discovery. So that you can Open Your World to more freedom and choice, more ease, more strength, more fun. Yes!
